2010 Specialized Epic Marathon 29er 29 Custom Build 1×9
Up for auction is a 2010 Specialized Epic Marathon 29er. I managed to snag a frame only earlier in the season and built it up as a 1×9 trail bike. Everything on the bike was bought new in may to build this bike up except for the XTR cranks and the formula brakes. th parts list is as follows.
Fork: 2010 Reba Team with lockout (tapered aluminum steerer 1.5 lower, 1 1/8 upper)
Wheelset: Industry Nine hubs and spokes (silver) built on Stans Notubes Arch rims (set up with stans yellow tape)
Skewers: Hope anodized Black
Tires: Specialized Purgatory 2.2 Control 2Bliss (set up with stans sealant)
Stem: Syntace F99 90mm
Handlebar: Edge Composites Carbon (very nice)
Grips: Ergon
Headset: Cane Creek
Seatpost: S Works Carbon 30.9mm
Seatpost Clamp: Thomson silver
Saddle: Specialized Phenom 130 Ti rails
Crankset: Shimano XTR
BB: XTR (new)
Chain guide: MRP 1×9
Cassette: Sram 990 11-34tooth

Bike as built weighs in at a reasonable 25 pounds 2 ounces, and thats without going too light with parts. The frame is in great shape. There is a small ding on the downtube by the bottom bracket (probably from a small rock flicking up) and some scuffs on the decal on the top tube both of which i have done my best to photograph. There are no cracks on this frame. Fork is the top of the line Team Reba for 2010 and looks great no marks on uppers, lowers have very minor scuffs. The wheels are fantastic and are big improvement on the stock Rovals that come on the complete bike, if you haven’t ridden I9′s then you are in for a treat. There are a couple of scuffs on the rims (see photos), but nothing major. They run smooth and true, bullet proof. Tires have plenty of life left. The formula puros are awesome. great stopping power and light. These wre serviced by the Hive in the spring. They are 2 years old. Drive train is in good shape. The XTR cranks are fairly scuffed up on the ends, but structurely they are fine. everything is shifting fine. I will be including everything to turn this back to a 3X9, so the winner has the option of both set ups. This includes a left hand shifter, a DmD XT front deurallier and the XTR granny and big ring as well as the deurallier mounting hardwear.
